Now while homeschooling isn’t for everyone. Home education can have many benefits for you and your children.

Above all, mine and my husband’s desire was to give our children a Christian education.

Also, I really enjoy being with my children.

I have carried those babies for 9 months and nursed them for many months as well. I enjoyed giving my babies what they needed, as I’m sure you do too.

Just because they were of school age didn’t mean I was ready to give up that responsibility to someone else.

The thought of dropping my little ones off with strangers to get an education and training was not what I wanted for my family.

I wanted to be able to train my children according to the scriptures

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6-8 KJV

Now while it is possible to do that even if children aren’t homeschooled, for me it was best to do that with a Christian home education.

Furthermore, we would be able to prevent some negative influences and encourage positive influences for our children.

In this blog post, we will look at 35 reasons why you should consider homeschooling your kids.

THE BENEFITS OF HOMESCHOOLING

Education and Curriculum

  1. Christian Education– This was one of the main reasons my family chose to homeschool.
  1. Curriculum – As a parent, you should know what your children are being taught. Homeschooling affords you the option to pick and choose which programs fit best for the needs of each of your children.

Not all children learn the same way.

So a one size fits all approach may not be effective for each child.

  1. Students can use a book curriculum or computer-based program. Also, using different curriculums for one subject and using another curriculum for another subject can help the child to have a better understanding of the subject material.
  1. A student doesn’t have to be assigned to just one grade. For example, a child may perform well in 3rd grade, but still need help in Math. It is ok for that student to work on a 2nd-grade level of Math while working at grade level in other areas.

He or she doesn’t need to be held back a whole grade.

With time and repetition, the student will continue to advance in areas not mastered. Sometimes all they need is a different approach or program to learn these areas.

  1. Kids can pursue classes of their own interest. Educating from home gives the flexibility of taking subjects that interest the kids.

Depending upon what your high schooler’s interests are after graduation, there are many electives that are offered to homeschoolers to cultivate their interest.

6. Career goals can be cultivated

7. As parents you have more control over your child’s education.

Health and Safety

8.Homeschooling is a way to prevent many illnesses.

9.Safety of your kids is a very important and real reason to educate from home today.

Strong and Healthy Families

10. Having your family together for learning and for growing can be very important for families. Homeschooling from home can give you that.

        11. Being with the family unit and schooling from home help build strong healthy families.

Emotional Needs and Social Needs

12. Positive influences– When you school at home you know what influences are in your child’s life. You know what they are taught, whom they are around and where they go.

13.If you have other children. Kids can study with classmates of different ages. Having kids around different ages of classmates and adults, help foster well rounded kids who can learn from different ages.

When children are only around peers their age. Many kids lose their individuality to become more like others to fit in.

14.Homeschooling provides another option when a student is enrolled in a negative school that doesn’t meet their needs.

Kids get individualized attention as is needed per student. A home education provides this for each child.

Homeschooled children are not subjected to violence in the schools and bullying.

15.Children are not under as much peer pressure when not around children of their own age all the time.

16.Children can be their own self and use their own creativity and gifts.

17.You don’t have to retrain your children from negative influences taught from school.

18.Parents can be the primary influencer of their children.

Learning Styles and Career Options

  1.  Having options of different learning styles help provide individualized learning for each child.

Learning disabilities and Specialized Teaching

Supporting a disabled child or supporting a child with a learning disability is another good reason for doing a homeschool program.

If you have a child that needs special teaching or training, you as the parent can use the modalities you need to help them succeed.

I had a child with dyslexia. I was able to work with him and use the tools he needed to help him be successful with his education. Through those tools and prayer over him, He recently graduated from college and is doing well.

Flexible Schedule options for your family

20. Flexible schedule– If your family travels or goes on vacation. Your kids will not fall behind. Your children can continue to work on their lessons while traveling or reschedule lessons.

21. Also, with homeschooling, you can work on your own schedule. It gives families the flexibility of a schedule that works best for parents and kids.

Furthermore, children can work on lessons at their own pace. If a child wants to work ahead, they can do so, or if they need to slow the pace down. That is an option as well.

Activities of interest and Field Trips

  1. Field trips and other activities can be done to increase learning. Homeschooling can take place at any time.

Medical leave or sick days

23. Medical reasons are what makes homeschooling an easier option. If a child needs to be out of school for any medical reason, it keeps from having absentees and needing permission to give to the school. When the child is well, school lessons can be made up.

24. Sick days– If a child is up to it. Learning can continue through videos or audio.

Enjoy Learning

25. You can teach children to enjoy learning and not just putting information into children for test-taking.

Character Training and Entrepreneur Skills

26. Children can learn to think for themselves and explore all options and ideas.

27. Children can learn about taking care of a home as part of their education.

28. Children can be taught and run a business as part of their home education.

29. Younger kids can learn from their older siblings.

30. Learning to serve others– being a volunteer and teaching to serve others is an important part of education. These are skills that a child can take with them for the rest of their life.

31. Children can be taught character training daily.

32. Doing daily Bible reading.

33. Having daily prayer.

34. Homeschooling helps creative more independent

35. Time management can be taught with academics. Alongside with home management or other activities such as a business.

Linked below is a blogpost showing homeschooling statistics.

https://www.thinkimpact.com/homeschooling-statistics/

According to thinkimpact.com these are some statistics on homeschooling since covid.

  • 67% of the homeschooled students successfully graduate from college.
  • The COVID-19 Pandemic saw over 300 million students all over the world become homeschooled.
  • 25% of the homeschooled students have enrolled a grade above their recommended grade as per age level.
  • Homeschooled students score between 80% and 90% regardless of their parent’s level of education.
  • Boys score 44% more in reading tests when educated at home compared to when educated in public schools.
  • 98% of the home-educated students engage in an average of 5 activities outside their homes.

Homeschooling isn’t a lite thing to enter into, and very much work. Though, it’s rewards, far outweigh the commitment needed to homeschool your children.

I have put 4 children through homeschool. I have one that has his Associates degree in Carpentry, one that just recently finished high school and one that is currently in college for a Computer-Science degree and helps me with my website.

Currently, I still have 4 children in school, and it has been a blessing to homeschool my kids. I have thankful to God for helping each and every day.
