The Manger

Luke 2:7

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Each section or window tells a story about the events that led up to the Resurrection of Jesus.

It begins at the manager when Jesus came as a baby and was born to be our Savior.

Matt 1:26

The Bible says and they shall call his name Emmanuel. Emmanuel means that God is with us.  God had a plan for his people and that is the reason Jesus came to this world.

There wasn’t any room for Mary and Joseph at the Inn so this is how Jesus came to be born in a manger.

Jesus prays for this cup to pass

Matthew 26:36-39

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

And he went a little farther and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

We skip to when Jesus was 33 years old. Wow, that went quickly huh?  Jesus knew what God, his father, wanted him to do. He wanted him to go to the cross because his blood would wash away our sins.

Though it was a hard thing for Jesus to go to the cross. He really needed his Father’s help to complete God’s will.   Jesus prayed and ask God if there was another way. However, because he loved his Father and us, he said he was willing to do the Father’s will. God knew Jesus was the perfect lamb to take away the sins of the world.

Jesus coming into town riding on a donkey

Matthew 21:1-4

And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say*, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

All* this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

Matthew 21:6-9

And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.

And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest

Next, we see Jesus coming into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. That’s because the Bible said that Jesus would do that. The people put their coats down on the ground, along with palm branches from palm trees to welcome Jesus into the city. The people shouted “Praise God and worshipped Jesus. This day is called Palm Sunday. This happened the week before Easter.

Jesus on the cross

Matthew 27:35

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Jesus is arrested and put on trial. He is beaten and crucified. After Jesus died, His body was taken off the cross and placed in a tomb. A tomb is kind of like their graves.

The stone is rolled away and Jesus is alive

Luke 224:2-4

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perflexed there about, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

This window is the most important one of all. The tomb is empty, and JESUS IS ALIVE forevermore.

Angel tells the women Jesus is not here in the tomb

Matthew 28:5-6

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

In this window, we see an angel. An angel at the tomb tells the women that came, that Jesus is alive and that he isn’t here. They go and tell the disciples and every one the good news!

Jesus shows himself for 40 days after he comes back alive

Acts 1:3

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Jesus continues his ministry for 40 days after he has came back to life. Over 500 people have seen the Risen Savior.

Jesus returns to Heaven

Acts 1:9

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Jesus then returns to heaven with the promise of coming again someday to get his people and take them to heaven.
